要旨

This thesis attempts to find out why Chinese people learn Japanese language, whether anti-Japanese feeling has any influence on their motivation toward the Japanese language study, and how they regard the history of the past warfare between Japan and China, and also how their perception of Japan and Japanese people has changed by learning Japanese and living in Japan. To research those issues, I used structured interviewing technique to 22 Chinese informants learning Japanese in Japan. As a result, I have fowrd out that, Chinese informants have integrative motive and instrumental motive, and that means they have clear purpose for studying Japanese. Also, they can keep learning Japanese pragmatically and realistically in order to concentrate on achieving their goals. Concerning the issue of the historical perception between China and Japan, they have hostility to Japanese people's attitude. However, they can talk it over calmly because they have acquired objectivity through learning Japanese, living in Japan, and making Japanese friends. The last point found was that they were in a dilemma between deep distrust of Japanese people's attitude toward historical perception and positive feeling toward Japanese culture.
