日本語学習者のコミュニケーション方略使用に母語話者の調整が及ぼす影響

要旨

This paper made a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the adjustments performed by Japanese\ native speakers (JNS) under the situation when Japanese learners with different language proficiency\ met with a problem of utterance production, and the reactions of learners to such adjustments. It was\ found that JNS 1) Use a lot of back-channel feedback to prompt the learners’ utterance production. 2)\ Guess the learners’ intent to assist the utterance production. 3) Give the sign of a clear understanding\ when understandings of the utterance produced by learners is prompted. Also the findings show that\ the adjustments performed by JNS differ with learners with different language proficiency, and JNS’s\ consciousness as a language-host to manage the whole conversation seems to be strengthened.\ There are 8 type of the reactions of learners to JNS’s adjustments has been observed. All of the\ learners with different language proficiency showed a strong tendency of using communication\ strategies (CS) for re-adjustment by using Japanese. Learners with low language proficiency were\ observed to borrow a common language with JNS temporarily for adjustment, and learners with high\ language proficiency were observed their consciousness as a language-host to manage the flow of\ whole conversation might have been strengthened.\ From the above results, the adjustments of “ promote conversation type ” made by JNS offer the\ opportunities to the learners to use CS for re-adjustment.
