要旨
This paper discusses the present situation of English loanwords in Japanese daily life. First, their whole picture is described. In brief, the role of Chinese characters is declining as a whole and English loanwords are partially replacing them, supplementing their drawbacks. This picture is followed by special references to several aspects which interest the author, with concluding remarks at the end.
