要旨
This study compares and analyzes the similarities and differences in the pronominal uses of address terms in Japanese and Korean. Some interesting results are obtained from the questionnaire carried out in this study.First, kinship terms, names or pet names, personal pronouns, and teknonimy (which means address terms spoken form a child's position), are used between acquaintances in both languages. In Korean, however, the speakers generally use kinship terms to older people, and names and pet names to people who are at the same age or younger. In contrast, Japanese speakers hardly use kinship terms. They commonly use names or pet names.Second, some Japanese and Korean people use kinship terms and the personal pronouns with unknown people.Especially Japanese people use a lot of personal pronouns, and Korean people use kinship terms. However, there is a tendency in both languages for no address terms to be used with a stranger.
