论孟子精神的现代意义

要旨

On today when the global economy integrates increasingly, holding a unique national tradition and the cultural spirit displays its huge value more and more. Then, what our China's traditional culture spirit is? In the developing process that Chinese society becoming modernization, what kind of a role should it take on? How the role plays? Why these questions become a hot spot that the Chinese intellectual circle and the ordinary persons pay a great attention and ponder a lot in the nearly two years, should having the reasonable development background and the positive sense. This article attempts to discuss on the positive sense and the enlightenment of Mencius spirit in coordinating the contradiction between the rapidly developing of matter and the malnutrition in spiritual domain in such a special environment and time of the contemporary China society. This opinion is expatiated from these several aspects: Mencius's democracy consciousness; Mencius's self-consciousness and being mindful of danger as an intellectual; Mencius's independent spirit and the personality strength as an individual, as well as Mencius's modern consciousness in treating the interests.
