要旨
The aim of this paper is to show sound spectrogram to examine the phonetic reality of the historical schwa (@) in Israeli Hebrew and to classify its variation. The data analyzed here consist of meaningful words, all of which have the structure #C@CVCV(C) with a word stress on the final syllable. The phonetic data have been provided by a male native speaker of Israeli Hebrew. The results are as follows: (1) @→ e or zero and b→p#b@xV, #b@sV or #b@sV. (2) @→ e, zero or zero and b→p#b@tsV. (3) @→ zero, e or e and p→b#p@nV. (4) @→ e or e and p→b#p@dV. (5) @→ zero or e#s@vV. (6) @→ e or e#s@zV.
