俺みたいになるな!!──消滅危機言語の硏究を色々間違へちゃった先生

要旨

This paper reflects on mistakes the author made during fieldwork on traditional Japanese dialects. These mistakes are roughly classified into three types: (A1) procrastinating in learning the target dialects, (A2) focusing on creating research data only in textual form, and (A3) treating the collected data merely as the researcher's own property. The author regrets that only after nearly ten years did he finally begin (B1) communicating with his consultants in their native dialects, (B2) recording the conversations in high-quality audio files, (B3) aligning audio recordings with corresponding text segments at the word or sentence level, and (B4) compiling a database of traditional Japanese dialects designed to support learners in everyday conversation. These delays greatly diminished the practical value of the collected data.
