「チョレギ」語源小考

要旨

The aim of this paper is to identify the origin of the word “choregi” in “choregi sarada” in Japanese. It is thought that the Japanese word “choregi” derives from Gyeongsang dialect of Korean language, but it is not easy to specify the original Korean word form. At first, checking some descriptions about Japanese word “choregi” on the internet, we found that “geodjeori(겉절이)” is the Korean standard word of “choregi”. Nextly, after researching the dialect words of “geodjeori”, we chose the three words of Gyeongsang dialect whose forms are similar to the form of Japanese word “choregi”. And analysing the language used by Korean residents in Japan, we tried to specify the original form of the Japanese word “choregi”. As a result, we arrived at the conclusion that the original Korean form of the Japanese word “choragi” may be “jjoragi” which is the noun form of the verb “jjorada” (“pickle”) in Gyeongsang dialect.
