現代日本語における時間的表現

要旨

一切の存在・行動・運動・変化は時間的属性を有する。それはあらゆる現象の生起・継起・持続・回帰・中断・終息が時間的持続の中においてのみ可能であるからであって、論理的事実としてはまさに時空相属である。しかし経験としての思考においては、具体は抽象され、いったん抽象されるとその水準においての具体と化し、これがさらに抽象され、論理的思考の世界ではやがて純概念的抽象になることができる。時間的概念も言うまでもなくほかならぬ具体的経験に源を発し次第に抽象化されていく。その言語的表現は明らかにこのかんの事情を物語るに役立つ。現代日本語についてこれを述べることを本稿の目的とし、あわせてかっての小稿をここに修正するものである。|It was proved in the present article that (1)the temporal expressions in Japanese language were ego-centric, of behavioral, of perceived-spacial or of everyday-life origin, i.e. psychoemprical; (2)that conjugations of verbs did not always correspond to the tense; and (3)that the verbs themselves had various modes of nuance of time. Thus we put forward the seven types of mode in verbs-beginning, ending, continuing, recurring, stopping, simultaneous, and successive.
