要旨
平安鎌倉時代の植栽管理については, 主として作庭書や発掘調査などから論じられてきたが, 本研究は更に古記録のほか, 生活描写の色濃い日記・随筆・説話・物語・絵巻などから資料を収録して考察することとした。その結果,(1) 管理担当の職名。(2) 植栽の維持作業には, 清掃とその時間帯・植物の手入れ・剪定・植替え・伐採・草焼き。(3) 庭園植物の繁殖には, 株分け・挿木・接ぎ木・播種。(4) 植栽の保護施設には, 柵囲い.植桝・霜除け・控木の存在が明らかとなった。
