要旨
Japan is well known not only as a world leader in technology, but also as a country of great mystery. This book presents 17 perspectives on CALL and language technology from teachers and researchers connected to the CALL special interest group of the Japan association for language teaching. This book aims to shed light on progress in both theoretical and practical areas of CALL, and point to some potential future directions.;Three sections cover evolving models, resources, and the CALL classroom and beyond. The first section links CALL to multiple intelligence theory, artificial intelligence, hyperText theory, and complexity theory, among others. The second section includes a look at solutions for increasing vocabulary acquisition, the benefits of corpus linguistics, and security issues. Finally, the book examines the rapidly changing CALL classroom, in terms of student projects, the impact of computer adaptive testing, and the gradual breakdown of the physically limited classroom with the growth of learning via mobile phones and other handheld devices. ;This book is valuable to anyone interested in the progress of CALL in Japan; in how computer-assisted language learning is changing now; and in some of the revolutions in hardware, software, methodology, and theory this technology promises for Japan and the world.
