A STUDY ON INTRANSITIVE VERBS OF ARCHITECTS' DISCOURSES : Architects' rhetoric in the "SD REVIEW" (Part II)

要旨

The aim of this study i8 to indicate an autonomic aspect of contemporary Japanese architects' discourses. Prized architects' discourses in the "SD REVIEW" are materials of this study. The method is to collect sentences described with intransitive verb from materials, and to classify them by meaning into 2 categories, by an angrle of writer's intention judged from sentence structure into 4 categories. The author investigates the relation between writer's intention and his understanding influenced by the construction of a sentence having intransitive verb. Consequently this study shows that the rhetoric is significant factor to transform architects' understandings into described architecture.
