要旨

The aim of this paper is to examine the multiple-choice translation item used for testing classical Japanese gram-mar in the Eighth-band Test Syllabus for Japanese Majors. The argument is as follows: 1. The problems of double evalua-tion standards and more than one correct answer for one item often occurred in test paper; These problems are caused by the uncertainty of the standard for evaluating translation. 2. The Skopos rule of the functionalist approaches to translation can be applied to set up the standard for evaluating teaching translation. By a lower standard, the adequate teaching translation can be sorted out, and by a higher standard, the high-quality translation can be sorted out from the ordinary translation in the adequate teaching translation. The former can be applied to the grammar test, and the latter should be avoided applying to the grammar test, because it may give rise to problems.
